I was asked to look at this design (solid models provided by the customer) and offer my critique primarily from a mechanical perspective, as well as suitability for injection molding.
The device as presented to me seemed to have quite a generic look to it, so I thought I might try to make it more Interesting

My redesign response was a means of making the product:
- More visually appealing.
- Easier to grab hold of and move or manipulate.
- Easier to assemble in a manufacturing environment.
Alternatives, using superficial variations:
In retrospect, I think my fancy fin features were likely just a germ harbor, making the device difficult to clean (if not frustratingly impossible). The side rail grips, however, I still kinda like, since the machine is pretty heavy, and difficult for someone with small hands to move around. The side panels also make the package quite a bit more resistant to damage due to dropping.
Note that the side panel is symmetrical about its vertical center, thus the same part may be used on both sides. Only a single mold cavity is required to get the project started. This is a common approach in my designs.
