The customer presented this proposed model, soliciting a quotation for injection mold tooling and production...

The final design was more like the customer's baseline than either of my proposals for the reason that the device was intended to be carried in a brief case or laptop case; thus flat, parallel top and bottom surfaces were actually important in order to keep the thing from becoming a bar of soap. It was not intended to be table art, and rubber feet would have simply been an annoyance.

Aluminum mold tooling was designed and machined by myself, and several production runs were made of stainless steel-filled polycarbonate—an exotic material, required in order to achieve adequate EMI shielding.
